Cycle Lewes is pleased to announce the installation of new bike parking facilities at two of Foundry Healthcare Lewes’ GP sites—River Lodge and St Andrew’s—thanks to a successful collaboration with Lewes Town Council and Foundry Healthcare Lewes.

The new 3-stand rack can hold up to 6 bikes at River Lodge on a concrete base; suitable for a wider range of types and sizes of bike. It replaces 3 historic wall-mounted "paper clips" which bikes could not be securely locked to.

A further new bike rack on the side of St Andrew’s replaces a previous one and includes a concrete base and easier access.

Cycle Lewes successfully applied for funding for the rack from Lewes Town Council's Community Interest Levy on behalf of Foundry; who then arranged for the installation of the racks.

Through this project, Foundry is working to improve access for its patients and staff who cycle; showing that it welcomes and encourages more cycling. This benefits individual patients and staff and also contributes to the broader health and wellbeing of the local community, alongside the positive environmental impact of reduced car use.

"We’re proud to support active travel with these improved facilities, which make it easier for our patients and staff to choose cycling as a healthier, more sustainable option."

Cllr Matthew Bird, from Lewes Town Council says ….

‘We are really pleased to be working in partnership with Cycle Lewes and Foundry Healthcare and to support the provision of much needed bikes stands at the River Lodge Surgery.’

Cycle Lewes is keen to hear from other community groups and businesses that would like to provide bike parking - contact info@cyclelewes.org.uk.
