Official Opening of new A27 cycle route -Friday 16 June,13:00

The long awaited cycle route alongside the A27 from Firle to Polegate will offically be completed at an opening ceremony at Drusilla’s Roundabout on Friday 16 June.

You can now cycle directly from Lewes to Polegate using only cycle lanes next to the A27. And whilst the cycle lane from Lewes to Firle still needs some repair work, the new 13km, £75m extension from Firle to Polegate is on an excellent surface, often at a distance from the noisy road.

Together with sister cycling groups across East Sussex, we shall be cycling to Lewes from Drusilla's to celebrate the opening of the path at 1pm. All Cycle Lewes members are welcome.

We'll be stopping to greet the National Highways Team at the 'new benches' which they have installed between Drusilla's and Milton Street (approximately half way). After that we'll return to Lewes by bike at around 1.30pm

National Highways will have staff at the “new Benches” which they have installed between the roundabout and Milton Street & will be there to answer questions from 13:00 - 15:00 on Friday 16th."
